The Columbia Chapter Missouri Writers' Guild anthology is now on amazon.com.  One of my pictures was selected for the cover.  They used a color copy of the picture and wrapped it around the back side of the book.  You can see it on Amazon.com.  Well-Versed-Literary-Works-2012

Library series of paintings

Writer's Helps
I painted these paintings for submission to our local writers’ guild annual anthology. I hope some of them will be accepted. I took all of these pictures at our local library and then painted them in gray scales.

Zinnia, Butterfly's Favorite

Butterfly's Favorite
This picture was taken in my garden.  The zinnias are planted behind the feathery limbs of the asparagus on the outer edge of my garden. I took the picture between a break in the asparagus as to not scare the butterfly away. I was surprised at the misty effect it gave the rest of the flowers.

Hint Fiction - Columbia Art League Art Show

This picture of mine was one of the pictures that sold this week as mentioned in the article below.  Robert Swartwood's book, Hint Fiction, was used by the artists to create their art based on one of the short stories.  The story that I selected was "Breaking Labor News."

Four more works in Hint Fiction sold today - to the authors of the stories! Thanks to Robert Swartwood for sending pics of the artworks to their corresponding authors. Columbia artists' work will be winging their way to Irvine, CA; Sarasota, Fl and Princeton, NJ. Columbia artists rock the house.

Life's a Hudson, and You're a Chevy

The following is a quote from today's Columbia Tribune, Columbia, MO, talking about the art that Jim and I do together.

...SPOUSES PEEL BACK PAGES

Perhaps a more “obvious” collaboration, the pairing of Jim Coffman’s poetry and wife Jan Coffman’s digital watercolors, comes across as no less engaging. His verse evokes youthful memories of freedom; her creations —derived from actual photographs that are shaped and transformed using software and a stylus — represent the means of that freedom in pictures as vivid as the ones he painted with his words...
